Winchell Consulting Corporation (WCC) is a construction consulting business. I started the company in May of 2017. I was first licensed as a general contractor in California in 1984 and I have worked in the construction industry since 1976. I had the great honor of working for Jax Kneppers Associates, Inc. (JKA), one of the leading construction consulting companies in California. Due to my long and successful association with JKA, I will always be linked within the industry to JKA. I worked for Jax and managed his southern California office for 22 years. I started Winchell Consulting Corp when Jax made the business decision to downsize his SoCal office.
WCC markets our services to attorneys, contractors, developers, insurance companies, and homeowners associations. Throughout my career in the construction defect industry, I have worked as a plaintiff expert, a defense expert, and as a neutral expert. Providing expert work for different sides has required me to be consistent with my opinions. With that consistency has come a level of respect among mediators and attorneys. I will continue to provide expert opinions that are consistent and reliable.
It is expensive to lose a lawsuit in both money and reputation. I have a proven track record of success in mediations, depositions, and trials and the results speak for themselves. Years ago, there were very few construction defect consulting companies. Since many contractors and construction companies struggled during the financial crisis, these struggling contractors in an effort to pay the bills have become the next generation of construction defect consultants. There are now many companies competing for clients in the construction defect industry. Many if not most are not qualified. They have not testified or formed opinions on the many and varying issues that affect the outcomes of the lawsuits. They have little or no experience in analyzing defects or what the process involves. They typically offer their services way below market and the client gets the quality of services that match the price.
